A cool northern breeze blew the leaves from the trees in swirls of vibrant autumn hues of orange and yellow landing on the path lovely pattern highlighted by rays of sunlight thru the trees. As fuzzy made his way thru the woods toward the river docks, he could not help but reflect on the same day one years ago. His whole body gave a shutter thinking back to that awful storm; it had lasted three days with endless wind and rain and thunder.

But now here on this delightful fall morning it was truly a distant nightmare.

Folks had taken to calling it the Great Halloween rage, but was not all bad. Some good did come from the storm, for now fuzzy dismissed all thoughts of the past. This picturesque day deserved his full attention. Soon he would be home. Ahh yes home.

A meal and a good sleep in his own bed ,after long months of travel was a welcome idea indeed.

In just a few days he'd attend the Halloween Ball and boy did he have a costume this year.

Petal his sister had written him a few weeks back explaining her theme idea for this year, but he was sure she would get a laugh out of his outfit as it was a bit of an inside joke.

He was sure everyone would show up; well they had all promised last year to meet each year no matter what at the Halloween ball. Forever.

Mind you they were all a bit tipsy at the time and feeling bonded after three days of confinement together to survive the storm. Maybe the bond was not true.

Well no need to be worried he said aloud to himself. Oh sure they will all be there and Lenora - will she? His mind began to fill with questions and doubts.

No, positive thoughts old man, no going down the doom path. And look here comes the boat. Yep home soon: warm meal, soft bed, and then the rest will sort itself out.
