Aunt Trudy

Aunt Trudy provides news and, well, gossip from Yellow citizens. If you have something you want in the Gazette, just contact yellowgazette@cox.net

Rumour has it that some folks in Yellow are developing a village or two. It would be good to hear from them to feature in the Gazette...

Going Green Contest

It looks like the Going Green contest that has been planned for some time will be just after the conclusion of the EBTS4. In discussions with Digigurl, it will be held over the month of May, with the final date to be decided. V4 rights can be won in this contest. Watch this space for further details.

The New Object yard for Yellow - progress

Digigurl is building the new object yard for Yellow. The indoor furnishings part is done. To get there quickly, use the command "ap:goto indoor" or go to 1946.50S 1898.08E 0.59a 268 in Yellow. A new section, New Objects is also available. Use the command "ap:goto new objects" to get there. More is coming. The original yard is still operational, but some users will experience a lot of lag and possible crashes.

Chloe Preggers

The great picnic basket thief has struck again. It seems the lastest victim was one Mavis Turntoe. She says she turned her back for only a minute when the basket disapeared right off the table. This is the third such crime this month.

New Yellow Gazette Offices Opened

YG Office graphic here

The new offices for the Yellow Gazette are now operational, and the staff are thrilled with them, said the editors of the Gazette. The architecture was designed around the theme of the world, with considerable input from the YG staff. Located in Admiratio Village, the offices are accessible by foot in the village, and by public transport from the surrounding area. "It's really good to see such an excellent development in our village", said Rufus Fuzzybottom, a long time resident of the community. The offices are designed to allow a smooth workflow from concept to design to production. There are very good staff amenities, with offices for senior staff, instead of the former pandemonium of everyone being in the same large space. Visitors can visit the offices, which are located at 157s 16152 0.1a 90, during regular working hours. The receptionists will assist visitors in finding their way around.

Our Top Stories

This month, in Builds of the Month, we feature an interview and some very interesting games from Urbane Chaos, who is becoming a genius at using the Physics engine now availble in AW. Following that, we show some of Eloquent Sanity's work in his Four Seasons village. Walk around them, and go from Spring to Winter.

In Building Tips, will be discussing some shortcuts on using objects that use numerical sequences as part of their names. It's a great way to build with object sets that work well together.

Fuzzy is not out of the woods yet, either. (but then, he's a bear, so that's normal...) But the adventures continue. Little Nellie's Garden brings more interesting plant facts and pictures, with free plant graphics for you to use.

Fuzzy's Tale

Episode 7: Fuzzy bereft?

In our last episode, Fuzzy was rather shocked at the appearance of Dora's old beau Jake. He had thought he had the beginning of a solid friendship there, but was left in the cold that night. As he trudged back to his rooms from the Playhouse, he thought to himself, "Well, maybe it's for the best. I think Dora would be a handful and I don't really need that right now. I've got so much going on with the Gazette and all."

The weeks passed and Fuzzy was getting more involved with his work with the YG, and had been given some very interesting assignments to cover as well, not to mention the building of the new Yg offices. Fuzzy had little time to think on anything else. Toward the end of the construction at the new Gazette office, there was a knock at his office door and Shakey put his head around the corner.

"Hey Fuzz, got a minute? I got some news." "Sure, Shakey, come on in" said Fuzzy. "What's up, O' Shakey one?" Shakey sighed. "Well, old bear, I hate to say this, but I've resigned from the YG."

Fuzzy did a double take. "You did what?"

"Resigned, quit, put in my notice" said Shakey.

"But, why?" Fuzzy stammered.

"Well, you see, it's like I loved working here. Good staff, good pay and good offices and all, but the Yellow Builders Guild were impressed with my work here when we were building the Gazette offices and they, well, made me an offer I couldn't refuse. They want me to be a construction foreman, and that really suits me better than doing paper stuff."

Fuzzy nodded. "Well, I understand, and you sure have been happy building. But I'm sure going to miss you around here. When do you start with the Guild?"

"Soon as the job here is finished" said Shakey. Ozman and Apooka weren't all that rapt about me leaving, but they understood and wished me well. "But I have to say I feel a little guilty. After all they really trusted me and had faith in me ya know," Shakey said with a deep sigh.

            Joes' Honey Muffins

These honey muffins, moufflets a la miel de sarrasin, are made with flavorful buckwheat honey. It’s used mainly for baking and as a health tonic for its high vitamin and mineral content.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:
 2 cups all-purpose flour
 ½ cup granulated sugar
 3 teaspoons baking powder
 ¼ teaspoon salt
 1 egg
 1 cup milk
¼ cup butter, melted and cooled slightly
¼ cup buckwheat honey (may substitute clover or other honey)

Preparation:
Preheat an oven to 400F. Grease 8 extra-large or 12 standard muffin cups, and set them aside.

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a medium bowl, beat the egg into the milk. Add the honey to the warm butter and stir for about 15 seconds to melt the honey a bit, and then add the honey butter to the milk and egg. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients just until the batter is moistened. Take care not to over mix, as this will result in a tough muffin.

Fill the prepared muffin cup 2/3 full with the batter and then bake for 15 minutes, until the muffins are a light, golden brown.
